Wipro is a “Gold” employer according to the Indian Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) for 2021

The India Workplace Equality Index 2021 has named Wipro Limited as a ‘Gold’ employer. Wipro is a well-known global provider of information technology, consulting, and business process outsourcing services.

In February 2020, the Keshav Suri Foundation and Pride Circle, in collaboration with Stonewall UK, published India’s First Workplace Equality Index (IWEI). This year’s report included 72 firms from 15 different industries. The assessment is based on nine areas of employment policy and practise, including policies and benefits, employee life cycle, employee resource group, allies and role models, senior leadership, monitoring, procurement, community engagement, and other LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives that companies are pursuing.

Wipro has been named to the IWEI for the second time for successfully integrating LGBTQ+ inclusiveness into its policies, employment procedures, and external communication. Wipro’s Inclusion & Diversity charter prioritises LGBTQ+ inclusion as a primary focal area. Wipro has revised policies such as Group Mediclaim Insurance and Medical Assistance Scheme to include employees’ same-sex partners, launched a Global Policy on Prevention of LGBTQ+ Discrimination, and signed on as a supporter of the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business Tackling Discrimination against LGBTI People in the last year.
