Santhosh Jayaram has been named as Global Head of Sustainability by HCL Technologies (HCL), a prominent global technology company, reiterating the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability as a core aspect of its business and growth.

Jayaram’s appointment will assist HCL in refining and focusing its current agenda and strategy in the important areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance, as well as enhancing and scaling its present and future sustainability efforts. He will also help HCL’s stakeholders create value by incorporating sustainability into existing business operations.

He led the sustainability and climate change practices at KPMG and Det Norske Veritas before joining HCL. He will assist HCL in its commitment to sustainable growth by concentrating both internal and outward, as creative technical solutions will be critical in advancing sustainability objectives. The goal is to restrict greenhouse gas emissions to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2040.

“I am delighted to be part of a fast-growing and dynamic organization like HCL. HCL has already established an impressive sustainability program, and I look forward to building on that strong base.”

Jayaram said.

HCL sees sustainability through three lenses: economic, social, and environmental impact as a member of the United Nations Global Compact. Sustainalytics granted HCL Technologies the 2021 ESG Industry Top Rated Badge, placing it 15th out of 167 companies in the sub-industry IT consulting area. In the Edelweiss ESG Scorecard & Ratings, HCL was named the leader and achieved the highest overall score among India’s Top NSE 100 companies.

Jayaram will work closely with HCL’s global leadership team in the Office of the CEO in his new post.
