Shopsy, a subsidiary of Flipkart, has set a goal to become the world’s largest grocery retailer, with stores opening in 700 cities. Flipkart’s grocery supply chain infrastructure and technology will be used by Shopsy. Its ability to give consumers a wide selection of things to choose from over 5,800 pincodes in all. The platform will centre on a community buying approach, with users receiving a fixed 5% discount margin of commission.
Shopsy, Flipkart’s social commerce platform, revealed today that it has added groceries as a category to its platform. Grocery on Shopsy will serve customers across 700 cities and 5,800 pincodes, leveraging the Flipkart Group’s supply chain infrastructure and tech skills. Shopsy Grocery will provide approximately 6,000 products over 230 categories, including staples, FMCG, and other dry groceries, similar to Flipkart Grocery’s assortment and range.

Users may now shop for value foods on Shopsy by adding products to their cart and checking them out, or by combining orders for numerous people in their network. Users can benefit from a fixed 5% commission margin that will be credited straight to their associated bank account, as well as up to 50% discounts.
Shopsy also provides comprehensive quality control across its fulfilment centres and Grocery supply chain in order to bring the safest and highest-quality grocery products to its pan-India consumers. Shopsy will be able to use Flipkart’s Grocery Fulfillment Centers in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, and Pune, which have completely computerised processes and product quality checks. These facilities have put in place effective quality management systems to ensure that the products can be traced from raw ingredients to the consumer without losing their freshness.
Flipkart started Shopsy in July 2021 with the goal of bringing internet commerce to India through a zero-commission platform. By simply reaching out to their trusted network of people on common social media applications, Shopsy has assisted local & small companies, as well as women entrepreneurs, in adopting social commerce. Shopsy is on target to allow over 25 million online entrepreneurs by 2023, with over 2.5 lakh sellers on the platform offering 150 million products across 250+ categories.
