Tata Motors has surpassed Hyundai to become India’s second largest automaker, Grows by 26% over Q3 FY21
Tata Motors Limited stated on Sunday that its domestic and foreign sales for Q3 FY22 were 1,99,633 automobiles, up from 1,58,218 units in Q3 FY21.
According to Tata Motors’ most recent financial report, domestic sales increased by 24% year over year in December 2021. Tata Motors has surpassed Hyundai Motor India as the country’s second-largest automaker.
Tata Motors sold 35,300 automobiles in the United States last month. During the month, domestic sales increased to 66,307 units. Tata Motors, India’s homegrown automaker, has surpassed South Korean Hyundai to become the country’s second most popular vehicle brand for the first time in decades. Maruti Suzuki continues to be the country’s most popular automobile manufacturer.
“Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle domestic sale in Q3 FY22 at 90,529 units was ~15% higher than the previous quarter (Q2 FY22) and 10% higher than the same quarter last year (Q3 FY21),”Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors Ltd. said.
“Tata Motors PV business growth journey continued and set several new milestones during the quarter despite witnessing a shortfall in production due to the ongoing semiconductor crisis. Decade high quarterly and monthly sales- 99,002 units in Q3 FY22 (growth of 44% vs Q3 FY21) and 35,299 units in Dec’21 (growth of 50% vs Dec’20) were recorded. In addition, the company also posted calendar year sale of 3,31,178 units (CY21), highest ever since the inception of the PV Business,”Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd. said.
According to Tata Motors, domestic sales grew to 66,307 automobiles in the month under review, up from 53,430 units in December 2020.Commercial vehicle sales grew to 31,008 units in December 2021, up from 29,885 units in the same month the previous year. From 23,545 units in December 2020 to 35,299 units in December 2021, passenger vehicle sales climbed by 50% to 35,299 units.
