L&T Construction bags orders from TNRIDC and UPMRCL, worth INR 2500 Crores

L&T, on Tuesday announced the company has received two mega orders and the Transportation Infrastructure Business of the company will build a highway in Tamil Nadu and a rail traction system in Agra. The cost of each construction project is upto 2500 crores.

The company said, ‘The Business has secured an order from the Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation (TNRIDC) to construct the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road EPC-02 Package of Section-II in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.’

L&T, as a part of the contract will construct a six-lane greenfield highway of 12.80 kms with flexible pavement, two lane service roads and paved shoulders on both sides of the carriageway, at-grade Intersections, major/minor bridges, vehicular/light vehicular/ small vehicular underpasses, and culverts. The company will also provide the maintenance for the infrastructure for 7 years. 

On the other hand, the company’s Railways business unit along with the Substation business unit of the Power Transmission & Distribution Business has received an order from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) Ltd.  This project which will span for 36 months will be funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

UPMRCL’s Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) order includes Design, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning 750 Volt DC Third Rail Traction System, Receiving Substations including High Voltage Cabling from Grid Substations, 33kV Cable Network, ASS, TSS & SCADA System for Corridors 1 & 2 of the Agra Metro Rail Project at Agra.

UPMRCL is one of the implementing agencies responsible for carrying out the Metro system works for the major cities of Uttar Pradesh such as Kanpur, Agra, etc. The construction company is already executing the track works for the Agra Metro.
