Kista Mobility Day is having an in-person event after two years of digital format. Visitors will be able to imagine the future of sustainable transportation in smart cities by interacting with a variety of 5G technologies this year. Ericsson, together with Kista Science City and the city of Stockholm, remains a major sponsor of the event.

This year’s theme is Future Today, and attendees will have the chance to learn how utilising current solutions may affect the future of mobility. Ericsson’s CTO, Erik Ekudden, will speak at the inaugural session on what the future of mobility means for Stockholm’s transportation.

Overall, the lectures will cover a wide variety of issues, including how technology might enhance traffic, public transit, and the automobile sector. Visitors will also be able to see a variety of application cases, including drones and robotics, autonomous cars, geofences, and virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, from a number of Stockholm-based enterprises.

“This is a great way to showcase Kista and Stockholm as one of the epicenters for innovation within mobility. Although Sweden is leading the way on many fronts in the mobility industry, we must ensure we have the right skillset and talent to fulfill industry needs. I’m looking forward to learning more about it during the day,”

Claes Herlitz, Head of IoT Product Management at Ericsson, said.

One of Ericsson’s use cases allows visitors to interact creatively with 5G and geofencing technology by racing miniature vehicles. The vehicles will be driven by participants from a remote drive station at the Ericsson Imagine studio, while racing at speeds of up to 30 km/h in a limited racing area in Kista. Ericsson will also show how to control global connection for SIMs in Cradlepoint devices using IoT Accelerator SIM management.

Kista Mobility Day serves as an annual reminder of the future of mobility, as well as the fact that some of the most significant worldwide mobility developments are taking place just outside Ericsson’s headquarters. As we all know, 5G is a fantastic platform for innovation, allowing Ericsson to continue leading communities across the world towards a greener, more sustainable future.
