Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council (HCSSC). This means that Flipkart will continue to help Indian artisans, weavers, and handicraft makers across the country by giving them access to markets, training, and support for starting new businesses.
The MoU was signed by the CEO of the Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council, Mr. Krishan Kumar, and the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of the Flipkart Group, Mr. Rajneesh Kumar.

The Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council (HCSSC) was set up in 2014 with the goal of giving the Handicrafts and Carpet Sector access to skilled workers by making competency-based training possible. The HCSSC’s job is to improve skills and set standards for the Handicrafts and Carpet sector as a whole.
Flipkart Samarth, which started in 2019, is a nationwide program that aims to connect lakhs of MSMEs, artisans, and underserved communities from all over the country with e-commerce growth opportunities. The goal of the program is to give underserved domestic communities and businesses better ways to make a living and build a platform that is sustainable and open to everyone. Flipkart Samarth helps these small businesses get set up on the Flipkart Marketplace by giving them time-bound incubation, help with onboarding, free cataloging, marketing, account management, business insights, and warehousing support.
